Not all windows provide the same level of energy efficiency, however. Our windows feature Low-E glass to reduce solar heat gain, as well as the Intercept™ warm-edge spacer system and argon gas to improve thermal efficiency. The features work together to ensure your windows work hard for you.

Replacement Window FAQs

How do you measure for replacement windows?

Accurate measurements are crucial when replacing a window to ensure it fits correctly. For best results, we recommend hiring a professional. If you decide to take your own measurements, follow these steps:

  • Horizontal width: Take three measurements—at the top, middle, and bottom—and use the smallest one as the final width.
  • Vertical height: Measure at three points—left, middle, and right—and use the smallest value as your final height.
  • Depth: Measure all sides of the window’s depth to ensure proper fitting.

How much will it cost to replace windows?

Window replacement costs can vary based on a variety of factors, such as window size, style, and more. At Window World, we have options available for all budgets. To find out how much your project will cost, contact us today for a free estimate, and check out our latest promotions.

How do you measure windows for blinds?

The process of measuring your windows for blinds depends on whether you’re installing inside mount blinds or outside mount blinds. Follow these instructions based on the type of blinds you plan to install:

Inside mount blinds:

  • Measure the depth of your window frame: Ensure your window frame is deep enough to accommodate inside mount blinds.
  • Measure the width: Take three measurements across the width of the window—at the top, middle, and bottom. Use the smallest of these numbers as your final measurement.
  • Measure the height: Take three measurements of the height—at the left, middle, and right. Depending on the type of blinds or shades, you’ll use either the smallest or largest of these numbers as your final height measurement.
  • Do not deduct from your measurements: Manufacturers account for any necessary allowances and deductions, so record the exact measurements.

Outside mount blinds:

  • Measure the width: Determine the width you want your blinds to cover. Add at least 1 ½” on both sides for optimal coverage.
  • Measure the height: Start from where your blinds will be mounted and measure down to the window sill. Leave an extra 1 ½” to 2” of overlap at the top to accommodate the blinds’ mounting hardware.
  • Do not deduct from your measurements: Manufacturers will account for any necessary allowances, so record your measurements exactly as they are.

How do you clean windows?

The difference between a sparkling clean window and a dirty one is like night and day. To maintain pristine, gleaming windows, follow these simple steps:

  • Vacuum large debris: Use a vacuum to remove larger dust particles and debris from the window and surrounding area.
  • Clean the sash and frame: Wipe down the window sash and frame with a soft cloth and soapy water to remove dirt and grime.
  • Wash the screens: Remove your window screens and clean them using a combination of soap and water.
  • Air-dry the screens: Allow the screens to air-dry completely before reattaching them to your windows.

How do you replace a window screen?

Window screens are both functional and aesthetic features of your home. If your screen has significant damage, such as holes or tears, it’s essential to replace it promptly. Follow these steps to replace your window screen:

  • Remove the screen: Take the damaged window screen out of the window frame.
  • Prepare the frame: Lay the screen flat and carefully remove the old screen mesh from the grooves holding it in place.
  • Position the new mesh: Roll out the replacement screen mesh over the frame. Stretch it evenly, leaving some extra material around the edges, and cut it to size using your preferred cutting tool.
  • Secure the mesh: Use a spline roller to press the new screen mesh into the grooves of the frame, ensuring a snug fit.
  • Trim the excess material: Once the mesh is secured, trim the extra material along the edges for a clean finish.
  • Reinstall the screen: Place the finished window screen back into the window frame.

What is a window sash?

The window sash serves as the supportive structure that keeps the glass panes and its related parts intact. It is securely placed within the window frame and its mobility varies based on the design of the window. For instance, in double hung windows, the window sash is designed to slide vertically, facilitating the circulation of fresh air in and out of your home.
